Relationship status: It’s complicated
But Gretchen and I scored by getting our names in the obit, so I guess I’m grateful for that. We fared better than the other three step-siblings who are not mentioned at all.
Nobody notified us that the our bio-dad’s obit was published. We found out about it like so many other life events. Somebody, in this case a cousin, posted it on Facebook and it just showed up in my newsfeed as I was scrolling through looking for funny dog videos.
I can’t even explain how this feels. Because I’m still processing it.
